Professional Interest

I've been working with synchrotron radiation since 1996. I started as a general user of the LNLS, the Brazilian synchrotron facility at Campinas. In 1999, I joined the LNLS as a posdoc at the X-ray Spectroscopy Group. After my 2-year stay in Campinas, I returned to Argentina for a short period of time. In 2002,  I joined BioCAT and I've been working here since then.
My research interest is split between biological applications of x-rays: microfluorescence and microXAFS in biological samples and atomic physics. .
My CV can be downloaded here.
Below is a list of my recent publications:

Personal interest

I devote my spare time (not a lot I should say) to find my family roots and to reconstruct my family tree.  My ancestors came from the region of Molise, Campobasso, Italy. Although there is a small village named Villeta Barrea in Italy there are no Barrea's living there. I found hundreds of Barrea's in a small town called Tufara. I have not been able to research nearby towns to find more relatives yet. I expect to find even more Barreas in those towns.
I 'm preparing my current results and they will be posted soon. The information is published in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
If you are interested in this kind of research you'll find very useful information at http://www.familysearch.org . This is the best family history resource site you'll find in the internet. If you have any question about how to use the information that can be access there, you can email me at   rbarrea@gmail.com. I'll be glad to assist you in your search.
